What kind of equipment do we use at
M4 Design?

Computers, Software, Storage, Scanners, Printers, Misc, Outside Services

Computers:

Amiga A-3000, Amiga A-1000, Mac Quadra, Mac Plus, e586DX PC Clone, PC-AT

The Amiga A-3000 is the workhorse at M4 Design. It is equipped with Phase5 "CyberStorm" accelerator card that uses a Motorola 50 MHz MC68060 processor (66.3 MIPS!) running AmigaDOS V3.1 a compact microkernal multitasking operating system, 82MB Ram, and over 4GB of Hard Disk storage online. Video output is handled by a CyberVision64 high resolution graphics display board with 4MB VRAM and powered by a Trio S3 64 bit graphics processor for resolutions of up to 800x600 (24 bit) up to 1280x1024 (256 colors). This Amiga is also equipped with an EMPLANT Mac emulation system. This system consists of an expansion board that holds two Apple serial ports, a Mac SCSI port and various other components along with software to create a complete Macintosh computer that can run simultaneously with the Amiga, inside the Amiga.

The Amiga A-1000 is one of the original Amigas from 1985. It has been upgraded to the latest specs with a "Rejuvenator" board and Motorola MC68020/882 running AmigaDOS V3.1 at 16 MHz with 9MB Ram, a 120MB Hard Disk and an A1300 Genlock for Video work output to a Commodore 1080 RGB Monitor. This machine is used as a backup and for misc. tasks like Video Tape Output, Telecommunications, WordProcessing, and keeping customers amused with a great game called MegaBall!

The Mac Quadra is based on the EMPLANT system described above. By using the 50 MHz 68060 it is faster than any 68K Macintosh ever made! (Twice as fast as a Quadra 950!) I currently have it setup to use 32MB Ram, 500MB Hard Disk storage and System Software 7.5.3. Video output is through the Amiga CyberVision64 at 1024x768 pixels and "Thousands" of colors.

The Mac Plus is really an original Mac 512K upgraded with a Mac Plus logicboard. It has the original Motorola MC68000 upgraded with 4MB Ram and a 40MB Hard Drive running System 7.1. It is connected to the EMPLANT Mac through an AppleTalk network to share files, programs and printers. I use it to read 800K mac diskettes.
